Custom Website Development

Websites that do more than display information.

Some websites need to work like software: customer logins, searchable listings, calculators, complex forms or live data from other systems. We develop custom websites that handle real functionality reliably and securely.

What custom website development involves

A standard website shows information. A custom-developed website also does things: it stores and retrieves data, lets customers log in, calculates prices, filters listings, accepts applications or syncs with other systems. That needs proper development, not a plugin stretched beyond what it was built for.

We build with modern, well-supported technology chosen to suit the project, typically TypeScript-based frameworks with server-side rendering for speed and search visibility, a managed database, and secure hosting. The code is organised and documented so it can be maintained for years, by us or by another developer.

Custom development sits between web design and full application development. If your requirements go further, for example a multi-user system with roles, workflows and reporting, our software development team will treat it as an application from the start.

Problems we solve

Sound familiar?

  • Plugins that clash and break

Stacking plugins to add features leads to slow, insecure sites that break after updates.

  • Information that lives in spreadsheets

Listings, stock or availability are updated manually in two places and are often wrong.

  • Forms that are not good enough

Simple contact forms cannot handle multi-step applications, file uploads, conditional questions or validation.

  • No way for customers to log in

Customers have to phone or email for information they could check themselves.

Benefits

What you get

  • Built for your requirementFunctionality is designed around what you actually need, not what a plugin happens to offer.
  • Secure by designServer-side validation, proper authentication, protected data and security headers as standard.
  • Fast and search-friendlyServer-rendered pages keep dynamic websites quick and fully indexable.
  • MaintainableClean, documented code and sensible architecture that does not depend on one person's memory.

Typical deliverables

Every project is scoped individually. These are the elements most often included.

  • Technical specification
  • Database design
  • Custom front-end and back-end development
  • Content management for the content you need to edit
  • Authentication and user roles where required
  • Advanced and multi-step forms
  • Third-party integrations and APIs
  • Automated tests for critical functionality

Examples of what this looks like

Searchable listings

Property, vehicle, product or directory listings managed from an admin panel and filtered by visitors.

Member and customer areas

Secure logins where customers access documents, orders, bookings or exclusive content.

Quote calculators

Interactive tools that work out an estimate from the customer's answers and send it to your inbox.

Application and onboarding forms

Multi-step forms with file uploads, validation and automatic routing to the right person.

Who it's for

  • Businesses with listings, stock or availability that changes
  • Organisations needing member or customer areas
  • Companies with complex enquiry or application processes
  • Businesses wanting their website connected to other systems

Process

How we work

  1. 01

    Discovery

We learn how your business works, who your customers are and what the project needs to achieve. No jargon, no obligation.

  2. 02

    Planning

We agree scope, priorities, content and timescales in writing, so you know exactly what is being built and what it costs.

  3. 03

    Design

Layouts and interfaces are designed around your customers and your brand, then reviewed with you before development starts.

  4. 04

    Development

We build with modern, maintainable technology, sharing progress as we go rather than disappearing for weeks.

  5. 05

    Testing

Every form, payment, integration and page is tested across devices and browsers, including accessibility and performance checks.

  6. 06

    Launch

We handle hosting, domains, SSL and redirects, and make sure search engines can find the new site or system properly.

  7. 07

    Support

After launch you can keep us on for hosting, maintenance and improvements, or take it in-house. It is your choice.

FAQs

Common questions

More answers on our FAQ page, or ask us directly.

Which technology do you use?

It depends on the project, but we typically use modern TypeScript frameworks with server-side rendering, managed databases and established hosting platforms. We avoid obscure or proprietary technology that would lock you in.

Will I own the code?

Ownership and licensing are set out in each project agreement. As standard you receive the right to use the website for your business, and we can agree full code ownership where that matters to you. We retain our own reusable components and libraries.

Can you add features to an existing website?

Often, yes. We will review the existing code and hosting first and tell you honestly whether adding to it or rebuilding is the better long-term option.

How do you keep a custom website secure?

Server-side validation, secure authentication, least-privilege access to data, dependency updates and security headers are standard. Ongoing maintenance keeps it that way after launch.
