UI/UX Design

Interfaces that make complex things feel simple.

Good user experience means people can do what they came to do quickly and without confusion. We design interfaces for websites, dashboards, portals and applications around the tasks real users need to complete.

Illustrative design system: an example of the kind of interface we design and build. Not a real client system.

What ui/ux design involves

UX design is about structure and flow: what information people need, in what order, and how they move from one step to the next. UI design is about the interface itself: layout, typography, controls and feedback. Both matter, and both are much cheaper to get right in design than to fix after development.

We map user journeys, sketch wireframes, then build clickable prototypes you can test with real users before a line of production code is written. Visual design follows, applied through a consistent design system of components, so the finished product is coherent and easier to extend.

We also review existing websites and applications, identify usability problems and recommend improvements, prioritised by impact.

For complex systems we work closely with the people who will use them every day. A ten-minute observation of how a coordinator schedules jobs often reveals more than any requirements document, and leads to interfaces that genuinely save time.

Problems we solve

Sound familiar?

  • Users get lost

Customers or staff cannot find what they need.

  • Inconsistent screens

Every page looks and behaves slightly differently.

  • Expensive changes late on

Problems discovered after development are costly to fix.

  • Accessibility gaps

Interfaces that exclude people using keyboards, screen readers or larger text.

Benefits

What you get

  • Validated earlyPrototypes tested before development reduces risk and cost.
  • ConsistentDesign systems keep interfaces coherent as they grow.
  • AccessibleDesigned to WCAG 2.2 AA principles from the start.
  • Developer-readyDesigns specified for accurate implementation.

Process

How we work

  1. 01

    Discovery

We learn how your business works, who your customers are and what the project needs to achieve. No jargon, no obligation.

  2. 02

    Planning

We agree scope, priorities, content and timescales in writing, so you know exactly what is being built and what it costs.

  3. 03

    Design

Layouts and interfaces are designed around your customers and your brand, then reviewed with you before development starts.

  4. 04

    Development

We build with modern, maintainable technology, sharing progress as we go rather than disappearing for weeks.

  5. 05

    Testing

Every form, payment, integration and page is tested across devices and browsers, including accessibility and performance checks.

  6. 06

    Handover

You receive organised, ready-to-use files and guidelines, and we can carry the work into your website, apps and campaigns.

FAQs

Common questions

More answers on our FAQ page, or ask us directly.

Do you test designs with users?

Yes, where appropriate. Even a handful of sessions with real users can reveal important problems. We will recommend a proportionate approach for your project and budget.

Which design tools do you use?

We typically design in Figma and share prototypes you can click through in a browser.

Can you design and build?

Yes. Most of our design work goes on to be built by our own development team.

Do you design native mobile apps?

We design for mobile web and responsive applications. Native app design can be discussed as part of a wider product project.
